Questions about this tool
How much smaller will my PDF get?
That depends on what's in it. Scans and photo heavy PDFs often lose 50 to 90 percent. A PDF that's mostly text is already small and may barely change, and the size meter will tell you so.
How do I compress a PDF to exactly 200 KB?
Choose Target size, click 200 KB (or type your own number) and press Compress. Fileloka tries to keep the text first. If that isn't enough, it searches for the highest image quality that still fits, so you don't have to fiddle with a slider.
What's the difference between Smart and Maximum?
Smart only touches the images embedded in the PDF. Text, links and drawings stay exactly as they were. Maximum redraws every page as a picture, which gives the smallest file, but you can't select or search the text afterwards.
Is it safe to compress confidential PDFs here?
Yes. The compression runs on your device and the file isn't sent anywhere. That's how the tool is built, not a promise in a privacy policy. There is simply no server that receives your file.
